In the soap opera, the character of sultan is well played by Halit Ergenc who has acted the 46 years of sultan’s life immaculately and with great detail.
The role of Hurrem was played by Meryem Uzerli in the most magnificent way that lures the attention of the audience. The fascinating lady was the captured eastern European girl named Alexandra Lisowska, who along with other women was the gift for the great sultan in his Topkapi palace. On hearing the formula of rising to the level of the queen by becoming the love interest of the sultan and giving him a son, Hurrem started the mission. Over the time, the Hurrem became the most favorite companion of the sultan and got pregnant with his five children that eventually made her the sultana of the Ottoman Court. The character of Hurrem had to go through many ups and downs and the challenge was not easy either but the pace with which it moved, drived the audience to adhere to watching each and every episode.
Other than the Hurrem sultan, other women in the life of Sultan Suleyman includes Valide Sultan (mother of sultan played by Nebahat Cehre ), first wife Mahidevran who gave birth to sultan’s first son (Nur Fettahoglu) and Hatice Sultan, the younger sister of sultan and married to the sultan’s mate and grand vazir Ibrahim Pasha (Okan Yalabik)-the biggest rival of Hurrem.
